Thursday February 10, 2005 at 7:00 p.m., the regular Middlebury Township Board meeting held at the Ovid Municipal Building was called to order by supervisor Anthony Sinicropi with the pledge to the flag. Prayer was given by clerk Audrey Sovis. Sinicropi, Sovis, treasurer Carolyn Stevens and trustee Paul Dutton were present. Trustee Charles Simpson was absent. There were 17 visitors present. Three members of the Shiawassee County Road Commission were present. Road projects for 2005 were discussed. It was noted by Managing Director Lonnie Latunski that approximately $23,000 will be carried over from monies paid in 2004 on the Simpson Road project. Gary Palmer from the Shiawassee County Zoning office came and explained HB6166 that would allow conditional contracting between a property owner and the county without having to apply for re-zoning. Dave Bigos of the Owosso Speedway was present and spoke of how this may help him stay in business. No decisions were made by either party or the board. Gretchen Voltz of the Michigan State Police came and spoke on behalf of the Mid-Michigan Area Group Narcotics Enforcement Team, which works to remove drugs and drug criminals out of communities. She reported 4 cases of drug activity in Middlebury Township last year, and that makes up 3% of the total cases covered by the MAGNET. She requested financial support from our township to help this year. Dar Hunt of the Parks and Recreation Board came and reported that 118 children from Middlebury Township participated in various sports programs offered last year. They made up 19% of all who played. They are requesting financial support for this year for equipment that can be inventoried and reused year after year. A motion was made by Dutton seconded by Stevens to approve the agenda. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion to approve the minutes of January 13, 205 was made by Dutton seconded by Stevens. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion was made by Stevens, seconded by Sovis to amend the budget. Roll call: Dutton aye, Sinicropi aye, Sovis aye, Stevens aye, no nays, Simpson absent. Carried. A motion was made by Sovis seconded by Dutton to approve the Treasurerís report. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion was made by Dutton seconded by Sovis to pay the February bills in the amount of $3,263.62 (check #ís 1375-1385). All ayes, no nays, carried.
