Thursday November 10, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.: The regular Middlebury Township Board meeting held at the Ovid Municipal Building was called to order by Supervisor Anthony Sinicropi with the pledge to the flag. Prayer was given by Clerk Audrey Sovis. Sinicropi, Sovis, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens and Trustees Paul Dutton and Charles Simpson were present. There were 6 visitors. Public Comments: Doug Krebiehl inquired about the cleanup bid going to a bidder who was higher than what he had submitted. Several board members responded as to why they chose Ovid Metal and Iron. Dutton inquired about the status of the cemetery deed being signed off by Porter. After discussion, Simpson volunteered to speak with Porter regarding this issue. General Business: A motion was made by Simpson, seconded by Dutton to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion was made by Dutton, seconded by Stevens to approve the minutes of October 13, 2005 as written. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion was made by Simpson, seconded by Dutton to approve the treasurer’s report. All ayes, no nays, carried. A motion was made by Dutton, seconded by Sovis to approve the payment of bills in the amount of $33,581.30 (ck #’s 1541-1550). Approved by signature vote: all ayes, no nays, carried. Communications: Violation notices were read in regard to David L. Runyan, Dan Wells, Donald E. Mitts, and Paul H. Barrette. Unfinished Business: Dutton reported that a plaque has been ordered in cooperation with the Harold Hehrer family to memorialize Mr. Hehrer. The price quoted was well below the amount that had been donated to the township by the family. New Business: Due to the number of requests for a speed limit sign on the newly paved Simpson Road, Sovis will send a letter to the Road Commission asking that these requests be considered. A annual homeless proclamation was signed by Sinicropi to help bring awareness to the homeless in Shiawassee County. It was discussed and decided to leave the well at the former Metz property sight capped at this time. A motion was made by Simpson, seconded by Sinicropi to send a letter to the County Commissioners requesting that one of the three-member Rails to Trails authority for Shiawassee County, be someone from Middlebury township, and that the Township Board recommends Rich Givens for this position. All ayes, no nays, carried. Resolution 2005-11: A motion was made by Dutton, seconded by Simpson to adopt as written, the Middlebury Township Social Security Privacy Policy. Roll call vote: Stevens aye, Sovis aye, Sinicropi aye, Dutton aye, Simpson aye. No nays, carried. Reports: Sinicropi reported that the OMES is planning to purchase property at the corner of M-21 and Hollister Rd. to build the new firehall. The estimated cost is $70,000. Dutton reported that the June 2005 library audit was complete and presented the board with a copy. Simpson reported that the Maple Grove Cemetery is currently using Clinton County prisoners to clean up the grounds before winter. It was noted that a new leaf blower was recently purchased as well.
