The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Anthony Sinicropi with the pledge to the flag. Trustee Charles Simpson led the board in prayer. Roll call was taken with the following members present: Supervisor Anthony Sinicropi; Clerk, Susan Tomasek-Swan; Treasurer Carolyn Stevens; Trustee Paul Dutton and Trustee Charles Simpson. Also present was sexton, Gary Fortin; attorney, Mark Cooley and four guests. Scheduled Comments: Steve Loomis was not present. Public Comments: None General Business: Treasurer Stevens added item (j) “windmills” under New Business. With the addition, Trustee Simpson made a motion to accept the agenda with a seconded from Trustee Stevens. All ayes and no nays the motion was carried. Trustee Dutton made a motion to approve the minutes from May’s regular and special meetings. Supervisor Sinicropi seconds the motion. All ayes and no nays the motion was carried. Clerk Tomasek-Swan made a motion to approve the May’s Treasurer’s report. Trustee Dutton seconded the motion. All ayes and no nays the motion was carried. Trustee Dutton made a motion to approve payment of June’s bill in an amount of $16,822.51 with checks #2148-2160. All ayes and no nays the motion was accepted. Communications: Trustee Dutton discussed the June 5th 2008 MTA meeting on roads. He discussed about the history of roads and how the funding began, right of ways, sidewalks and bike paths. He discussed the present state of the finances. He stated of different ways of getting money for the roads with special assessments and millages. Unfinished Business: Supervisor Sinicropi made a motion to sign the contracts with the Shiawassee Road Commission for a total budget of $72,715.50. Trustee Simpson supported the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the following: ayes; Tomasek-Swan, Stevens, Dutton, Simpson and Sinicropi and nays; none. New Business: Trustee Dutton made a motion to appoint Brad Dilts to the Park and Recreation Board. Treasurer Stevens seconds the motion. All ayes and no nays, the motion is carried. Trustee Dutton made a motion to appropriate $ 500.00 to the Park and Recreation board. Supervisor Sinicropi seconds the motion. All ayes and no nays the motion is carried. Trustee Dutton made a motion to approve the Supervisor to sign the permit for fireworks to Bighause Inc. /Owosso Speedway pending insurance, contacts and licenses are provided. Clerk Tomasek-Swan seconded the motion. All ayes and no nays the motion was carried. Trustee Simpson made a motion to have a special meeting on July 10th at 6:00 pm to discuss the millages on the August Primary; OMES renewal millage and the Middlebury’s Road Millage. Treasure Stevens seconded the motion. All ayes and no nays, the motion was carried. The report from Cindy White was reviewed by the board. The exit signs need to be in place and the fire extinguisher needed to be checked. She also suggested that the township look into having a cemetery and firework ordinance. Attorney Cooley discussed the Leaf case which will go to hearing in July. He also discusses to the board the process of having an ordinance and enforcing an ordinance. A motion was made by Trustee Dutton and seconded by Trustee Simpson to approve the sending of Supervisor Sinicropi and Clerk Tomasek-Swan to the MTA meeting on July 22, 2008. All ayes and no nays the motion was carried. Resolution 2008-07, The Veteran’s Health Care was put into motion by Trustee Dutton and seconded by Supervisor Sinicropi. A roll call vote was taken with as follows: ayes; Dutton, Simpson, Tomasek-Swan, Stevens, Sinicropi and nays; none. The resolution was declared adopted. Supervisor Sinicropi discussed the putting of windmills in Shiawassee County. There is talk about it. They will be approaching townships about putting the windmills in place. Trustee Dutton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Simpson seconded the motion. All ayes and no nays, the meeting was adjourned at 8:28pm.
