Middlebury Township PO Box 622, Ovid, Michigan 48866 Regular Board Minutes Middlebury Township Hall 7627 W M21, Ovid Michigan Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 7:00 pm Call to Order: Supervisor Herendeen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with a pledge to the flag and a prayer led by Richard Semans. Board Members Present: Supervisor Michael Herendeen, Clerk Susan Tomasek-Swan, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens, Trustee Gary Kiger and Trustee Richard Givens Guests Present: Scheduled Comments: Mary Nordbeck said since the fail of the millage the commissioner is working on the budget. Steve Loomis stated the sheriff dept. is looking at a loss of 14 position and road patrol is done. Super is asking what are the other deputies are going to do. Some are already looking. Super H Is going to be laid off at the beginning of the year. Our area is covered by the Flint post. Public Comments: Opened at 7:04 pm Closed at 7:05pm None Motion to Approve Agenda: Trustee Givens made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Treasure Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Motion to Approve Minutes: Clerk Tomasek-Swan made a motion to approve the minutes from October 11, 2014 Regular meeting Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Motion to Approve Bills: Trustee Givens made a motion to approve paying the bills with checks 3652-3672 void on ck #3655 and 5 EFT in an amount of $14,500.59. Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Communications: Park and Recreation: None OMESA: Dick is presently at a financial meeting for OMESA. The road is relocated to the tower and they need to get approval to put a fence up. Richard Wirt is placing the fence up. Planning: Trustee Givens reviewed the Shiawassee Co. meeting regarding Zac Potter’s rezoning parcel. The next step is going to the board of commissioner meeting. Mr. Bowne recommended a board represented. Super Herendeen asked Lynn Bowne how difficult it would be to have our own zoning department. Library- Meeting minutes in packet Assessor-If there is anything necessary the next BOR meeting is December 9th. As of to date there is nothing to have a meeting if something comes up Diane will let the BOR members know. Business: Resolution 2014-05: Setting the meeting see sheet CD…coming due after 6 mths The recommendation is to rollover. The McBride property is 2.5 acres. The property is located next to a gravel pit. The property was given in 1968ish by a family. Every township had a dump to throw their garbage. It ran until the state closed up the dump. Ceiling- If we want to do the ceiling correctly we need an engineer to decide what should do. One contractor would pull all the bushes and shut the bottom of the siding to block all the mice from getting into the hall. He feels the smell is from the air not moving and we need a vent in the attic. He feels part of the insulation needs to be removed. There is not way to put the insulation in the top. It needs to laid on top of the suspended ceiling. He recommended a lifetime shingles. The frame is solid but it needs a strap and a 2 by 4 to keep it from sagging. The price is $11,000.00. The roof is way over due. The chimmeny is not being used and it can be taken down. Lynn Bowne recommended he has contract in writing and liability insurance and motor vehicle insurance. Just to protect the township from and worker getting injured and to protect from liability. Super Herendeen stated let’s have the person draw up a draft contract. He could start working on the outside. Clerk want to get anyone interested in going to the annual conference to let the clerk know.
