Middlebury Township PO Box 622, Ovid, Michigan 48866 Regular Board Minutes Middlebury Township Hall 7627 W M21, Ovid Michigan Wednesday, 2014 at 7:00 pm Call to Order: Supervisor Herendeen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with a pledge to the flag and a prayer led by Richard Semans. Board Members Present: Supervisor Michael Herendeen, Clerk Susan Tomasek-Swan, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens, Trustee Gary Kiger and Trustee Richard Givens Guests Present: There were eight guest present. Present were Lynn Givens, Mary Nordbeck, Rose Brown, Paul Dutton, Mike and Diane Dowler, Anthony Sinicropi and Richard Semans. Scheduled Comments: Mary Nordbeck, County Commissioner Representative, discussed the defeat of the Shiawassee County Sheriff Proposal and the passing of the Veteran's proposal. Mary stated the commissioners are looking at cuts to make in the budget to compensate for the loss of tax revenue that would have come from the Sheriff's proposal. Public Comments: Opened at 7:18 pm Closed at 7:20pm Paul Dutton commented on the need for a mercury light on the township hall. Motion to Approve Agenda: Trustee Givens made a motion to approve the agenda with the addition of board of review replacement. Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Motion to Approve Minutes: Clerk Tomasek-Swan made a motion to approve the minutes from November 12,2014 Regular meeting minutes with the addition of Rose Brown added as guest. Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Motion to Approve Bills: Trustee Givens made a motion to approve paying the bills with checks 3674-3690 and 2 EFT in an amount of $ 6,849.69. Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Communications: Park and Recreations-None Ovid-Middlebury Emergency Service (OMESA)- Everything is going well. Due to holiday the next OMESA meeting will be held on December 17th. Planning Commission- The property owned by Zac Potter has been approved for B-1 use from residential. Next Planning Commission meeting will be on Dec 11, 2014. Library-The minutes are attached to board packet. MTA Meeting- The main topic of the meeting was the Sheriff's proposal. Assessor Communication-Diane Dowler briefed the board on two corrections made by Board of Review. Business: SEDP Trustee Givens made a motion to appropriate $500.00 to Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP). Clerk Tomasek-Swan seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Budget Amendment Clerk Tomasek-Swan made a motion to amend the budget by transferring $640.00 from unallocated to Drains, $330.00 and Library, $310.00. Trustee Givens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Library With regret, the board accepts Heather Kline resignation from her position as Middlebury Township Library board representative as of December 30th 2014. Treasurer Stevens made a motion to appoint Susan Tomasek-Swan as the Middlebury Township Library board representative starting January 1, 2015. Trustee Givens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried BOR With deep regret, the board announced the passing of William Riggans, Board of Review member of many years. Supervisor Herendeen will seek out some possible Board of Review members. Final Comments: Opened at 8:02 pm Closed at 8:09 Trustee Givens brought to the attention of Supervisor Herendeen the completion of the Sexton contract. Supervisor Herendeen wanted to call the carpenters to discuss the plans. Trustee Givens will review road projects with Shiawassee Road Commission.
