Trustee Semans lead the prayer. Board Members Present: Supervisor Michael Herendeen, Clerk Rose Brown, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens and Trustee Richard Semans. Trustee Gary Kiger Guests Present: Carl Chalker, Karl Heckman, Arlene Pesik, Susan Tomasek-Swan, Diane and Mike Dowler Scheduled Comments: Public Comments: Opened at 7:07 pm Closed at 7:07 pm None Motion to Approve Agenda: Treasurer Stevens made a motion to approve the agenda with addition of hall discussion and land swap update. Trustee Semans seconded the motion. Aye: All Nay: None Carried Motion to Approve Minutes: Trustee Semans made a motion to approve the minutes from the April 10, 2019 as presented. Clerk Brown seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Motion to approve Bills: Treasurer Stevens made the motion to approve the payments of bills in an amount of $8775.09 from the General Fund with 4 EFT and checks numbered 5030-5053 (check 5029 voided). Trustee Semans seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Communications: Park and Recreation: Kip resigned. The board is thinking of closing Park and Recreation board down. City of Ovid would like to keep it going. Representative Kiger asked about the board their opinion on keeping the board. The Ovid Township was contributing to Park and Recreation but ended because it was illegal expenditure. The City of Ovid was also advised that is was illegal to contribute to the Park and Recreation. Supervisor Herendeen explained what was legal expenditure and illegal expenditure. Kiger also stated there are only three people members for the Park and Recreation board. OMESA: May 18th 1 pm to 4 pm is an Open House at the new fire hall. The last of the turnout gear has been purchased. Library: No meeting MTA Meeting: Last night, May 7th, held at the road commission. Judge Stewart was there discussing the Drug Court and other programs. No more meetings until September. It will be the day after Labor Day at Shiawassee Township Hall. Assessor Communications: Diane Dowler updated the board on communications. Business: 1. Marijuana Ordinance Trustee Semans updated the board on the status of the ordinance. The State is still working on the new legislation regarding marijuana. 2. Proposal 18-3 Election Change Clerk Brown reviewed to the board the new changes with Proposal 18-3. Clerk Brown brought up about the pros and cons of moving the Clerk’s office to the township hall. 3. Hall Discussion The board discussed the hall and reviewed ideas. Clerk Brown asked about the light. Supervisor Herendeen made a motion to contract with Gene Ruess, Moonlight Electric to repair the township hall lights up to the amount of $400.00. Treasurer Stevens seconded the motion. Aye: All Nay: None Carried 4. Land Swap Update Some quick claim deeds needs to done. No money will be exchanged. The board discussed quick claiming the deeds. Lynn Bowne sent all the information and the deeds but have not heard from the other party. Trustee Semans will continue to work with Attorney Bowne on completing this task.
