M-21, Ovid, MI Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 7:00 pm REGULAR MEETING Call to Order: Supervisor Herendeen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Board Members Present: Supervisor Michael Herendeen, Clerk Jamie Aldrich, Treasurer Jill Ruess, Trustee Gene Ruess, and Trustee Ronald Powell Guests Present: Guests were present: Jodi Medina, Gary Keiger, Carl Chalker, Mark Holley, Chris Cannon, John Plowman, Jeremy Diets, Mike Constine. Scheduled Comments: 1. Commissioner Report 2. Road Commission- Spoke about Hibbard Rd, will be filling in the dip where the new culvert was put in first thing this spring. Went over all the purposed road projects for 2026. Hibbard road would be shared with Sciota township, he will talk to them about sharing the project cost. Please read over contracts and get signed and back by March. Gary asked about the speed limit on Baldwin Rd. Chris told Gary he would research this. Ruess made a motion to approve agenda with adding discussion about hall sign and assessor contract. M. Herendeen seconded the motion with addidtions. Ruess made a motion to approve bills Total General Fund Cks #6528-6550 for $12,458.39 EFT’s for $1,742.98 for a total of $14,201.37. R. Powell seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: M. Ruess- Yes Communications: MTA- not holding regular meetings Library- Business as usual, they were able to get training on the new AED set up. OMESA- They had a special meeting last month, they had an issue with the snow plowing contract. They hired a new snow plow company. Clerk- Your W-2 is in with your check. All year end items complete, W2, W3, 1099 NECs Assessor- Every year we have to pass a poverty exemption. Tax payers have until December 2026 to apply for this. M. Ruess- Yes Treasurer- Business: 1. Hall Sign. Dan made a slight change to the sign presentation, no additional cost to township. Board all agrees sign looks great! M. Herendeen made a motion to approve hall sign designed. J. Aldrich seconded. Voice Vote: Ayes: All Nays: None Carried 2. Assessor contract. Mike will sign contract. No objections. Old Business: 1. New Hall- Mike will call Ron Mallery to see if we can get a quote. Mike spoke to Ron and he gave us a budget proposal. This does not include things like the driveway, well and septic. We need to ask about pricing on a drive way. Quote received from Mallory, good for 30 days. It at least provides the township a place to start for analysis. What are our next steps? Driveway?
